n meetings which took place yesterday, the TV companies’ content committee have approved Israel’s debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which will be celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year. So far no details surrounding the middle eastern nation’s participation are available, still, more information is yet to be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
IBA chairman, Dr. Amir Gilat, says; “The family of Eurovision contests of the European Broadcasting Union are a very important thing in my opinion for international collaborations, such are also becoming a great PR tool from the top degree of exposure for Israeli culture in the world.” Continuing, Gilat believes that “deepening this connection between IBA and EBU will profit a quality show for the favour of the audience of Israel.”
Junior Eurovision has been shown on Israeli TV between 2005 and 2007. State broadcaster IBA have also expressed interest in taking part before, however backing out for budget reasons. The final list of participating countries will be presented within the next two months, whilst negotiations remain ongoing.
