Introducing 2012: Germany!

All the entries for the 2012 contest have been selected and now My Eurovision Diary will introduce them to you!

Entrant: Roman Lob

Roman Lob was born in Dusseldorf on July 2, 1990. Having won the German casting show “Unser Star für Baku“ he is going to represent Germany in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest. Music has played an important role in Roman’s life from the very beginning, since his grand-father used to play the organ at the local church. He also sang at the choir of his kindergarten. Later on, Roman Lob learned to play the piano.

According to him, he’s been making music since the age of eight. Since 2005, Roman has been a member of several bands playing the drums or singing the lead vocals.

Roman Lob became famous only months ago, when he won the German talent show Unser Star Für Baku. However, music has always played a great role in his life.

Entry: Standing Still

The song was chosen as well as Roman through Unser Star Für Baku. Standing Still is entirely sung in English and it is composed and penned by Wayne Hector, Jamie Cullum, Steve Robson.

The song has so far done well on the charts, on Germany it has achieved respectable spots  and it is one of the favorites to win or to at least achieve a good result in Baku.

This was the last entry to be introduced! See you next year!

  1. Germany 2012 is a nice entry for sure. In fact, everything about it is nice. The melody is nice, the orchestration is nice, the lyrics are nice, the guy is nice and his voice is nice. Unfortunately, nice is not a nice word. Quite the contrary in my opinion, nice is a synonym for average if we talk about art. If I was in a more benevolent mood right now, I could use the popular euphemism radio friendly too, but I won’t because we would miss Roman’s button eyes on the radio. 6/12 and 26th place on my pre-rehearsals list.

  2. I don’t like it. Roman’s voice is beautiful, but “Standing Still” is just boooring. 😦 Germany 36th on my list.

    Viel Glück, Deutschland! 😉

  3. Germany 12 is one of those songs that just does not go anywhere. It tries too hard not to step on anyone’s toes and therefore iy kinda is non-existent. Roman is an average performer. Good luck.
