Introducing 2012: Lithuania!

All the entries for the 2012 contest have been selected and now My Eurovision Diary will introduce them to you!

Entrant: Donny Montell

Donatas Montvydas was born on October 22, 1987, in Vilnius. The musical path of Donny Montell began in the song contest Dainų dainelė where he became the laureate. Later he studied at Balys Dvarionas music school. “That was the time when I understood that music was going to be a part of my whole life” – states the young singer.

Donny is a successful participant of various TV-shows: his voice mesmerized both the audience and jury atDuets Of The Stars and he won the Lithuanian version of the Dancing With the Stars. He competed at prestigious festivals as well, like Slavianskij Bazar and New Wave. He’s also taken part in the national selections for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 and 2011, when he was close to the victory.

Meanwhile Donatas also found time to participate in the TABAMI project, where he performed songs of Michael Jackson.“It was one of my dreams that came true – to sing Michael Jackson’s songs on the big stage”.

Entry: Love is Blind

Love is Blind is entirely sung in English, and has been released in Russian, Lithuanian and Georgian. As well as Donny the song was selected through the Lithuanian national final.

Love is Blind is composed by Brandon Stone, and penned by Brandon Stone & Jodie Rose.

Tomorrow we will introduce the British entry, note that the entries will be introduced according to the running order!

  1. I think it’s not bad. But I know that Lithuania will not qualify, because in the second semi final have a strong songs for qualify.

  2. In the beginning, I thought that I might like Lithuania this year but no, I don’t. The funky disco parts of the song are not bad but the ballad parts are really ugly imo. This song might as well serve as a case study of how much more damaging bad pronunciation is in a ballad. Donny is a good singer but if I take the weak lyrics into consideration, I can only give 4/12 and 32nd place on my list.

  3. ‘Love is blind’ is very underwhelming, imo. The melody is flimsy, the orchestration is vague and the known stage presentation is silly. There were much better songs on offer in the interesting Lithuanian NF. Good luck.
