Introducing 2012: Austria!

All the entries for the 2012 contest have been selected and now My Eurovision Diary will introduce them to you!

Entrant: Trackshittaz

Lukas Plöchl and Manuel Hoffelner make up the band Trackshittaz, who will represent Austria in Baku with their very own music style of tractor gangster party rap.

Trackshittaz consists of Lukas Plöchl alias “G-Neila” and Manuel Hoffelner alias “Manix”. Born in the upper Austrian Mühlviertel district, both band members are flagship examples of their unique genre – “tractor gangster party rap”. The duo first became known for their YouTube hit Alloa bam Fraunz, based on the house track Alors On Danse and Lukas Plöchl’s participation in the ORF casting show Helden von Morgen.

After their début Oidaah pumpn muas’s (platinum status), which appeared early in 2011, and their following hitProlettn feian längaah (gold status), both of which reached no. 1 in the albums chart, their run of success continued in February 2012 with their third album Zruck zu de Ruabm (gold status). Trackshittaz goes back to its roots here, the raps centering on party and village life. They are supported on their travels by their producer Sam Vahdat, who emphasises the authenticity of the duo and sparkles with his wild sounds and heavy beats.

Entry: ‘Woki Mit Deim Popo’ (Shake Your Butt)

The song is sung in Mühlviertel, a German dialect from Upper Austria, and was composed by Lukas Plöchl and penned by Lukas Plöchl and Manuel Hoffelner The song has peaked to number 2 on the Austrian Singles Chart.

Tomorrow we will introduce the Hungarian entry, note that the entries will be introduced according to the running order!

  1. Well, the song is as abysmal as the Russian one but unfortunately, the Trackshittaz guys lack the cute factor that saves the grannies from scoring a zero on my list. Austria sent my favourite ESC fun act in 2003 but this year, they are not funny, they are just dumb. The song itself is terribly annoying, the lyrics are an insult to good taste and the national final performance was cheap and trashy. This is probably the worst ESC entry since “Leto svet” in my opinion. 0/12 and last place on my pre-rehearsals list.

  2. This is as bad as anything that has ever graced a Eurovision stage, there is nothing positive that I can say about it, a torturous 3 minutes.

  3. Okay, let me see if I understood, Austria gets mad because eastern countries get the high spots, and because they don’t qualify, Austria, I saw your national final there were plenty of better songs, but you had to choose this sexist song? actually, the first big mistake was that Conchita and Trackshittaz advanced to the superfinal, then Trackshittaz won, that’s really bad I think that 50% televote and 50% jury would have been ok. good luck next time, I really like to see you in Eurovision 🙂 keep the faith
